Center of Attention is the pattern from the Stop, Drop and Roll booklet by Anka Treasures for this lap quilt. The designer is Heather Mulder Peterson. This is the perfect pattern for showcasing an outstanding fabric you love, love, love. 

Avante Time

This quilt is from a Villa Rose pattern that I made up for Quilts at the Marshall House and just finished getting it quilted. I practiced circles and squares for modern quilts.

Blackbird Design Recent Block Done

Slowly I am getting these hand appliqued blocks done from Blackbird Designs in the book Tending the Garden. I am modernizing the pattern and quilt by using fabrics that are very different that what is shown in the book. Love the oranges, teals, yellows, and the look of the 28" blocks. The quilt will end up a queen size when 3 more blocks get finished.

Free Pattern for Market Tote

This Market Tote is 15 1/2" x 16" x 5". The pattern is from Windham Fabrics designed by Whistler Studios.Pattern found here.

Inside I added an additional 2 pockets on the front wall as well as the back.

I used extra firm Pellon fusible instead of the fusible fleece that the pattern suggests. My tote is sturdier, stands up by itself and is still washable.

While in Michigan my grandson Maxwell James was born. I prefer to dedicate this blog to only quilting but just had to share.

Here I am holding Maxwell only minutes after he was born. He was wide awake and kicking those little legs.

Lots of new finishes with Avante

Before going to Michigan to see family and friends I was busy getting quilts done to take with me. Here is one for my brother and sister in law. The top was done before we moved to Wyoming but was able to get it quilted on Avante. It was a challenge to do since my frame only fits up to queen size and this one was a king. I quilted half the quilt, took it off the frame, moved it down to quilt the other half. This is a pic of the first half done.

This is another kingsize quilt for my son and his wife called Simply Stacked Boxes by Moda. Love the water colors and they loved the quilt.

Pretty Pinwheels for granddaughter. I found pink with white polka dots sheets to go with her quilt.

Fancy line of fabric. Disappearing 9 patch with white sashing, a pattern from Missouri Star Quilt Shop. Just need 2 layer cakes and white Kona solid. Fun and easy to do.

Fun with Avante Handi-quilter

Purchasing the Avante by Handi-quilter has turned out to be the best decision for me. The support from the company is awesome and my representation is so helpful. The machine sews perfectly for me and I am finishing so many quilts. My skills improve with each quilt. Here are my most recent finishes.

Baby quilt for great niece due in September. I used the strip tube ruler and jelly roll with white sashing between the 4 blocks. Another quilt just like this one is waiting for quilting.

Practicing large teardrop shape and echoing quilting.

Getting even, overall quilting is no easy task but the avante is helping to make it easier.

Here is a quilt going to my mother. It is a Jacob's ladder block done in reproduction 30's fabrics. Love pink and green together and the summer-spring feel to this quilt. I tried a flower motif with lots of echoing to achieve consistency of quilting.

An owl quilt for grandson due next month. Working on an easy raindrop shape edge to edge.

I was really pleased with the overall design of quilting.
