Holiday Sewing

I have been having fun making winter mug rugs as gifts by fussy cutting snowmen and then framing them with another snowman print. I also made a miniature from a mini charm pack given to me by a friend. The blocks finish at 1 3/4 inch square. Not sure what I will do with it but I enjoyed making it.

Slide Show by Atkinson Designs

The pattern, Slide Show by Atkinson Designs, was used to make this winter/Christmas lap quilt top. I still need to add the outer border probably in red to make it more Christmasy. The top was started 2 years ago so all the cutting was done and some of the blocks already put together. This makes finishing so much easier.
I also have been working on appliquing ornaments for another Christmas lap quilt.

Just Couldn't Resist

I just couldn't resist starting another winter quilt top. Imagine that. This is an easy top with 14 large ornaments to applique. I am making it from a Henry Glass fabric line from last year and slightly modifying a free pattern from the company.
I am doing the quilt on the left with the ornaments.

Here are a couple of ornaments finished.

Henry Glass fabrics I am using. The characters are so adorable and very well done.

Winter Quilting

With the recent onslaught of winter I have turned my quilting focus on winter themed sewing. So far I completed getting the borders on this log cabin quilt using fussy cut log cabins for the centers of the log cabin blocks. I also fussy cut little snowmen out of the focal fabric to applique here and there on the quilt top. A white flannel with blue snowflakes will be the backing. This will make a very large sofa quilt.

Hexagon Placemats

Using a batik jelly roll I am in the process of making hexagon placemats and table toppers for my kitchen and dining area. Fun and easy to do. Just need a 60 degree ruler.

Borders on the Bunny Hill Christmas

Love doing Bunny Hill patterns and this weekend I just finished putting on borders on this Christmas/winter wall hanging. I still have more embroidery to do and some buttons to add once it is quilted. My plan is to get it finished to hang in the classroom after Thanksgiving. The applique was done by hand needle turn method, my favorite.

Borders done in Bunny Hill Christmas line of fabric.

Pumpkin Placemats

My quilting friend, Nonnie, sent me Trip Around the World strips to make these pumpkin placemats. She made her pumpkins into a table runner but I decided on placemats instead. Love her choices of orange fabrics.

Recent Fabric Purchases at Quilt Show

The Northwest Wyoming Quilters Guild held their annual quilt show in Gillette, WY 3 weekends ago. Not only did they display awesome quilts but the vendors succeeded in enticing me to make these purchases.

Fun fabric to make granddaughters something.

 More cowboy Wyoming fabric.

Had to have fatt quarters.

Loved the fabrics in this little kit....a must have.
