Counterpoint Quilt

A recent finish of a quilt with a modern feel. I used a new line of fabric from Quilts at the Marshall House where the quilt is on display. From the leftover corner squares I was able to make another lap or crib size half square triangle quilt.

Getting rows laid out ready for adding sashing and sewing together.

Pattern by Mountainpeak.

Half square triangle quilt made from the scraps leftover from Counterpoint Quilt.

365 Day Challenge

I began Kathryn Kerr's 365 Day Challenge Quilt a couple of months late but plan to catch up this month. I am only one month behind now. These little blocks are so much fun and cute, cute, cute. Yesterday I pieced the center medallion block.

The yellow and blue print in the center is my focal fabric.

Dreamweaver from Missouri Star Block Book

Mistakenly I called this quilt checkerboard in a previous post but it is called Dreamweaver. Just finished getting the 2 borders on this morning and love how it turned out.

Finished at 73 x 82.

I will quilt this in a design to mimic the one in the border.

Missouri Star Quilt Blocks

Having fun making one of Missouri Star's quilt patterns called Checkerboard. I am using a jelly roll of yellows, batik greens and fun blues from Laurel Birch Designs.  Then I am using a light gray for background and a medium gray for the sashing. I have enough fabric to make at least 2 nice sized quilts especially with the perfect border fabric that just came into the shop last Friday. Ellen set aside 5 yards for me. Pics will come later.

FYI: Laurel Birch jelly rolls, charm packs and layer cakes are available at Quilts at the Marshall House.

The block. 9 inch finished.

One row of blocks done so far. All the cutting is done and was easy with jelly rolls. Blocks sew up fast.

Picture of the Checkerboard quilt is on the cover of one of the latest Missouri Star books.

Fresh Picked by Blackbird Designs

My version of one of Blackbird Designs more recent books, Fresh Picked, is greatly reduced. After getting started I found too many others things I wanted to make so this 9 block top became a 1 block wall hanging. It is going on the frame today to begin quilting.

My choice of fabrics are nothing like the designers but do love their big pieces for needleturn applique.

Freckles from Make Wall Quilts

Freckles is the name of this wall quilt using just scraps. I hand appliqued the "freckles" but they could be fused and sewn by machine just as well. This is hanging in the quilt shop right now until I decide where to hang in my home.
The book, Make Wall Quilts, has 11 different wall quilt patterns from a variety of popular designers.

I chose straight line random boxes to quilt just the background and quilted around each "freckle". Just love the variety of fabrics and textures.

Not many good pattern books for only $15 and this one is a keeper. Hmm...what to do next?????

You Are My Sunshine

When this line of fabric came in I had to have the panel and the gorgeous floral for the border. And then I also picked up a couple yards of two other fabrics. In all I have enough fabric to make another quilt or two. You Are My Sunshine was a song my parents sang so I have lots of good memories with this besides loving the color and design. I made 12 patches between the panel blocks and added border. Quilted it with a 3 petal flower motif. Easy and fun to do.

Fabric is available at Quilts at the Marshall House.

The 12 patch blocks between the panel blocks were fabrics from the line as well as my stash.

Need this especially during the winter months.

Perfect lap quilt with happy color.
