Scrap Buster
When a couple of my friends decided to teach a class on a 9 patch scrappy quilt I got busy sewing from my stash of 2 1/2 inch squares and strips. Whenever I have left over fabric from a project I try to cut it into 2 1/2 inch strips or 5 inch squares and keep them stored in plastic boxes. I also have 2 inch strips and 1 1/2 inch strips.
For this quilt I chose to use a white or very light square for the centers and a white for the sashing to pull it together with all the different fabrics. I loved the offset sashing.

Just a few rows together. This quilt ended up measuring 83 x 94. |
Edge to edge quilting. I like to quilt down as many corners and seams as possible. |
A closer look at the quilting. I love blue so chose a solid to balance out the scrappy blocks. |
I love how this turned out. This may become my go to pattern for using up scraps. |

A Quilt for my Sister-the easiest quilt ever
My sister asked for a quilt for her guest room that is decorated with Minnie Mouse....red, white, and black. It just so happened I had 6 yards of a gorgeous black and white floral and I went to into planning mode wanting something very simple and to showcase the floral print. Here is the final quilt complete with binding.
It doesn't get much easier than this. |

Quilts for Grandkids
I love to make quilts for my grandkids and when I saw these 2 panels I had to have them. Raven, Abbi and I saw the Secret Life of Pets while I was visiting in Michigan so I bought 2 panels, one for each of the girls. One-year-old Max's favorite character is Mickey Mouse so, of course, I had to purchase the Mickey Mouse panel. All 3 quilts are backed in nice soft flannel. I simply put borders on and quilted. They arrived to their new owners for Halloween.
Mickey is quilted in edge to edge hearts and has red flannel with white dots for backing. |
I did more custom work on the Secret Life of Pets panels with outlining the lettering and using loops and swirls for other parts. |

Quilts for the N.E. Wyoming Quilt Show
These were the quilts I chose to show in the 34th annual N.E. Wyoming Quilt Show in Gillette, Wyoming this year. I didn't win any awards but for me it is all about the fabric. We had 307 entries and I was happy to be a part of them.

Flower Pots design by Lammons
My summer quilt project was this yellow, green and blue Flower Pots, design by C. Lammons. Loved the colors, scrappiness, and sampler style so no boring sewing the thing over and over again. This will be in the NorthEast Wyoming Quilt Show this weekend, Oct. 1 and 2, with 7 other quilts of mine.
Flower Pots quilted free hand by me. |
Another pic of quilting. |
More practice on those swirls and feathers. |
Applique was needle turn by hand. |

Custom Quilting Practice
Custom quilting is an ongoing practice. I am continually looking online at patterns and ideas and then going to one of my quilts and trying designs out. Some I can do and some need lots more practice and some I think....I will never be able to do. Here are some pics of my latest practice quilt.
Fun using the ruler and it is getting easier. |
Love making little loops and little feathers. |
Curliques need to be more uniform in border. |

Pat Sloan's Globetrotter Mystery Quilt from 2014
My sewing club decided to do Pat Sloan's Globetrotter Mystery Quilt from 2014. We promised not to look ahead. I did mine using my stash in pinks and yellows even though we were instructed to pick one color way. Have to say, I am not one to follow rules very well. I love how my quilt turned out.

Quilting Pictures
Just a couple of pics of some quilting I recently finished on a black and yellow quilt. I was able to practice feathers and some crazy 8 border design.
I call this the crazy 8 border design. Love loops. |
I did edge to edge in the center of the quilt with feathers, flowers and curliques. It worked really well with these fabrics and design. |
